As you all know, I have an obsession with styled set ups! For months I was dreaming up and collecting things for a styled Boho session. I also wanted to try some new shooting techniques and posing. The Stewart Family and I have worked together lots in the past and when we booked their session I asked them if they were open to doing something new and letting me style the session and choose what they wore. I love how the session turned out so much and I asked Kari to give her thoughts on what it was like to be on the client end of the session!
From Kari:
We have done several family photo sessions with Heidi now. What I love about each of them is the definitive timestamp each one brings with the location, photos, and ages of our family members (especially the boys). Every time we receive the photos in our inbox, we are inundated with gasps and ooh and ahh over the cute portrayals Heidi captures. When Heidi approached our family about doing a Boho styled session, I was completely willing to let her tell us what looked good and pass more control on to her. We had done a variety of sessions by then, and I was absolutely intrigued in having her help us with coming up with something new to hang on our walls.
Heidi gave me some general color and outfit suggestions, and shared some of her vision. She sent me photos of props and things she was interested in shooting with, but also seeking my input to see if it was something we were comfortable having. This made me really excited because I loved the colors and vibe she was wanting and was really eager to see it come together. These styled Boho photos surely did not disappoint. With her guidance, willingness to be flexible, and fun interactions along the way, the styled set was easy and really gorgeous. When we got out photos, I was, again, wow'd. This time, more than others, I felt like we were literally in a magazine and could feel the love she was able to photograph for us.
Because I fell in love with the session so hard, I decided to offer Boho mini sessions in late summer.

I am also including links to shop the look. I chose their outfits and would advise any family to dress similar to this! You will want neutrals, earth tones, solids and textures. No prints or pastels for this! And we will go barefoot, so no need to buy shoes!
